The longer the coat the chicer the look! Ankle length and floor grazing coats are my newest obsession! Not only does an extra-long coat keep your lower legs warm, but it also creates this dramatic effect!
I feel like longer length coats make you look both slimmer and taller at the same time. But whenever I am wearing an extra-long coat, I always make sure to wear shoes that have some sort of heel. Otherwise, the coat can feel too “weighty” or “bulky” and actually make you appear shorter.
I’ve been stocking up and purchasing lots of long coats and trenches since the start of fall but California just isn’t cold enough to wear them. So when I visited New York for the holidays, I made sure to bring as many as I could.
For the past few years, my winter wardrobe has always consisted of mostly black and grey so this year I wanted to add some more color. I styled this Zara coat with a blue silk shirt layered underneath a grey Isabel Marant sweater, blue jeans from J.Crew and the prettiest Gianvito Rossi pumps embellished with swarovski crystals.
I especially love this Zara coat because the orange color is so beautiful and its hard to find a nice coat that’s not black or some other boring color. The coat is an oversized fit, which made it perfect for layering sweaters, shirts, and whatever else was necessary to keep warm.

Sweater: Isabel Marant
Shoes: Gianvito Rossi
